Summary of Duties:

The successful Mobility Engineer at will be responsible for the Airwatch with WorkSpace One architecture, infrastructure strategy, planning, design and support for the enterprise. Responsible for management of overall planning and operations of Airwatch, including integration into Company's processes and compliance activities. Areas of focus also include infrastructure and application support and monitoring, maintenance, incident management, change management, problem management and capacity management as well as providing guidance on improving and automating the current existing processes.

Additional responsibilities include tasks such as identifying automation opportunities, monitoring vendor releases for the hybrid Airwatch infrastructure, handling L3-4 support requests and consultation, providing technical expertise, maintaining knowledge base of resolutions, and escalating issues to 3rd party vendor. Will also assist in planning efforts, business analyst tasks, process improvements, testing, and facilitating collaboration meetings with partners and performing knowledge transfer and mentoring of L1-2.5 support personnel.

This person will also be training a college graduate and teaching them the skills needed to become a mobility engineer. 


Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage, trouble shoot, and optimize the currently existing Airwatch Workspace One platform.
  • Recommend improvements, adjustments, and strategy for future needs.
  • Support existing Mobile Application Management (MAM) environment
  • Plan, create, deploy, and maintain security policies to be enforced and pushed to mobile devices.
  • Manage the distribution of mobile applications along with certificates and provisioning profiles associated with applications.
  • Monitoring mobile devices' compliance and asset tracking
  • Plan, install, and test new or updated Airwatch/WorkSpace One systems/components to maintain relevance with the latest mobile OS (iOS/Android)
  • Develop and maintain documentation of the Mobility system's architecture and configuration to ensure successful ongoing support.
  • Keep up with mobile OS updates and work with Application Development team to ensure compatibility with latest mobile OS releases
  • Configure network and security appliances (Firewalls, VPN, and Load Balancers) to work with mobility infrastructure


  • Minimum of 10 years professional IT experience with 3 of those years being in the Mobility space with Airwatch
  • B.S. degree in an engineering and / or technical discipline from an accredited college / university preferred
  • Expert knowledge and experience with the AirWatch Mobile Device Management System with Workspace One Integration.
  • Experience with Exchange ActiveSync, VPN and Wi-Fi setup, and deploying certificates
  • Experience with installation, configuration, maintenance, and production of Airwatch with WorkSpace One: Test and Production environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 required and Microsoft Intune a plus
  • Experience with server configuration a plus: Windows Server 2016 / 2012R2 / 2012 / 2008, Linux Forms (Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat, OpenSUSE), Web server platforms (IIS, Apache).
  • Experience with coding a plus: PHP, ASP, .Net, C++, JavaScript / JQuery / AJAX, Objective C, XML / HTML, SQL.
  • Experience with database configuration a plus: SQL Server 2016 / 2014 / 2012 / 2008R2.
  • Experience with scripting languages a plus, particularly PowerShell.
  • Experience with PKI infrastructure and Microsoft Certificate Authorities and their functionality
  • Understanding of mobile device communication and web application structure.
  • Strong understanding of specific mobile device platforms preferred.
  • Experience in Product Management, Project Management, or Change Management preferred.
  • Technical design and documentation experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; is able to explain technical topics in simple terms; is able to think quickly and react to enterprise-impacting situations.

Must haves:

  • VMware experience
  • 3 years of Experience administrating mobility
