Software Engineer  Fairfax, VA 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following but not limited to. 

 

Have the ability to lead a team in the adherence to planning, policies, practices, and manage personnel while overseeing a computer programming project or group of programmers.  Assigns, coordinates, and reviews work of programming personnel. Usually reports to a Project Manager or Technical Lead.  Position is responsible for limited tasking within the team, as directed by Technical Lead, including mentoring of junior team members.  Position is distinguished from a supervisor as the position does not have responsibility for evaluations, recruiting, hiring, promotions, transfers, nor disciplinary actions.

 

Individual must have demonstrated experience and ability to task or direct a team of software engineers in developing and maintaining operating systems, applications software, database packages, compilers, assemblers, utility programs and other highly complex system software requirements. Possess the ability to modify and create special purpose software and ensure systems efficiency and integrity. Possess the ability to analyze systems requirements and design specifications. Possess the ability to develop block diagrams and logic flow charts. Ability to translate detailed systems designs into executable software. Ability to test, debug, and refine software to produce the required product. Possess the ability to prepare and review required documentation, including project plans and software program documentation.

Requirements include:  Typically requires a four year college degree in field of specialty; however equivalent education and experience (seven plus years) combined may be considered.

  • Ability to program in C#
  • Ability to write Unit Tests
  • Source Control experience (branch & merge)
  • Code and Release Build experience
  • Knowledge of Entity Framework
  • Database/Structured Query Language (SQL) experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a closed environment with others
  • Flexible and dependable
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Leadership Skills

 

Additional requirements:

  • Prior military experience or knowledge is helpful but not required
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a government clearance
