Apex Systems, the nation’s 2nd largest IT staffing firm, has an opportunity for a Network Administrator Role in Lakeland, FL (33810). This is permanent position with a salary range of 60-80k. This position will focus on 50% Cisco Routing & Switching support, 30% Firewall support (currently using Palo Alto) and 20% Cisco Voice support.

Position Summary

A Network Administrator is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing Network and Security infrastructure and application

components. A Network Administrator performs a wide variety of maintenance,  installation and training tasks to ensure the network and security systems performance meets company and user satisfaction. A Network Administrator also provides information and recommendations regarding network configurations and

installations. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to maintain and improve mission-critical information and Network systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a satisfactory understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)
  • Work with the security team to identify risks and implement mitigation plans
  • Evaluate alternative technologies and architectures in relations to Network infrastructure needs
  • Configure and setup Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and VPN Concentrators for access to business applications
  • Assist in configuration and deployment of VoIP telephony services.
  • Configure wireless networking that supports open and secured access.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking
  • Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, etc.
  • Maintain multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities
  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives
  • Actively participate and provide input for audit and compliance requests
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, outside vendors, etc. to provide technical assistance and support Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services
  • Maintain and update Network diagrams and documentation as required
  • Available during non-business hours to resolve system issues as needed
