*ITI/RRS Consult with Network Planners on structured cabling designs for various global LAN projects o Audit structured cabling installations for standards and codes compliance o Train Network Planners and Network Operations resources on best practices for structured cabling and patch cabling installations o Manage relationship with UAW trades (communications, electricians) o Negotiate labor clearances when needed o Train trades on installation practices o Oversee installations o Manage relationship with cabling contractors o Conduct site surveys with LAN planners o Review BOM quotes o Oversee installations o Support Dearborn Fiber Network (private metro fiber optic network) o Assist with site survey, quote, design and installation for new DFN construction . both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) o Process DFN circuit installs/deletes; update fiber plan documentation Skills Required: o Knowledge of structured cabling best practices o Knowledge of basic networking and IP protocols o Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite of applications, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project o Strong project management skills, organization skills, personal discipline, interpersonal relationship skills and communication skills (written and oral) Skills Preferred: N/A Experience Required: o Knowledge of structured cabling best practices o Knowledge of basic networking and IP protocols o Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite of applications, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project o Strong project management skills, organization skills, personal discipline, interpersonal relationship skills and communication skills (written and oral) Experience Preferred: o BICSI RCDD certification is strongly preferred o Experience working in newer Enterprise Data Center environments is strongly preferred o Experience with outside plant (OSP) construction methods - directional boring, trenching and aerial o Basic knowledge of Cisco L2/L3 switch technologies o Basic knowledge of Ethernet switching (100/1000 Mbps / 10/25/40/50/100 Gbps) o Knowledge of emerging, high speed LAN cabling standards (25/40/50/100Gbps, QSFP, CFP, BiDi, 10GBaseT, Cat6a, Cat7, MPO) o Knowledge of DWDM and associated standards o Working knowledge of data center/computer room installation standards (airflow, A/B power, etc.) o Knowledge of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) concepts including management of power and cooling systems o Strong process mindset . ability to follow and create effective and sustainable processes o High standards for quality; attention to detail o Ability to effectively prioritize and manage several projects at the same time No Education Required: Preferred: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or related technical field. Equivalent experience will be considered. 3-5 years of related industry experience desired.
