Certified Pharmacy Technician Opportunity

Apex Systems, the nation's 2nd largest IT Staffing Firm, is supporting 3+ Month Contract opportunities for Healthcare Call Center Agents for a Fortune 50 pharmaceutial company in Phoenix, AZ. Training: 2 weeks training 8:00 .m. to 4:30 (M-F), 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (M-F) for 13 weeks

Hours: 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Mon - Thursday), 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Fridays) and a Saturday rotation (every 8 weeks)

Summary: This position is responsible for screening orders, research, accurately and efficiently reading, interpreting and entering prescriptions into the computer system in a timely fashion, and/ or thinking through and solving escalated prescription issues.

  • Direct questionable prescriptions to the prescriber for clarification, and enter incomplete prescription information once clarification has been obtained and complete appropriate described patient letter.
  • Offer solutions needed to help simplify the customer healthcare experience.
  • Enter patient and prescription information into system and fax physicians for prescription clarification, substitutions, and formulary changes.
  • Support development and maximize workflow


  • MUST HAVE either Technician in Training license or CPhT/Texas State Pharm Tech License
  • 3 months Pharmacy Experience.
  • Adept at reading/interpreting prescription terminology and medications.
  • Rapid keyboarding skills while maintaining 100% accuracy.
  • Able to meet specified production and quality standards as defined by the management team.
  • Able to recognize and identify commonly used generic drugs and the route of administration of these drugs.
  • General knowledge of commonly used generic drugs.
  • Able to understand and interpret Latin symbols commonly used on prescriptions medications and able write routine correspondence.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. This includes the ability to calculate dosages and days-supply prescriptions.
  • Must be flexible and enjoy working in a fast pace, team oriented environment.
