Network Test Engineer
Long Term Contract 
Austin, TX

Our client seeks a Platform Test Engineer to join some of the industry's brightest minds in developing and deploying today's most advanced Internet technologies in the Data Center environment. In this role, you will gain insight on the detailed functionality of Cisco products and partners with all distributed elements of the service chain. The ideal candidate demonstrates an aptitude for process improvement, creation and measurement as it applies to technical test teams.

This is a great opportunity for someone with patience and an high technical aptitude to work with the Client's development and engineering teams to get new platform capabilities and functionality into production.

Primary Duties:

This role is focused and responsible for testing end to end the capabilities of the CMS platform and driving process improvement initiatives.

•  Provide troubleshooting, configuration expertise with Cisco equipment.

•  Test and acceptance of new platform capabilities. Clearly identify defects and drive to resolution.

•  Drives process best practices and adherence by all ITIL functions

•  Drives the efficiency and effectiveness of process management. Collaborates with the functional owners to monitor the effectiveness of business processes and make recommendations for improvement. This requires collaboration with technology  subject matter experts from the delivery organization to ensure their processes are aligned to the platform capabilities.

•  Builds & strengthens relationships with stakeholders in regards to platform quality, completeness and effectiveness.

•  Ensures that all process activities are carried out as required throughout the (UAT) user acceptance testing lifecycle

•  WIP - Quality, Compliance and Internal Audit and Reporting Metrics.

•  Collaborates with the functional owners to ensure documentation is maintained and optimized. 

Responsibilities:

15%: Develop/Drive standardized methods and procedures for user acceptance testing. Monitor adherence to established process and where appropriate, facilitate the process. Monitor, manage and provide input to corrective actions in the form of new user stories or defects.

30%: Lab setup, preparation and configuration for test of user stories.

15%: Build strong productive working relationships with platform stakeholders to promote a quality platform release on schedule. Ensure that service quality measurement is in place and a 'service excellence' ethos is promoted.

40%: Testing of software, penetration and security test and/or review

Education and Experience Requirements:

•  Bachelor's Degree in the field of information technology, engineering or computer science.

•  5+ years’ experience in technical test lead, network engineer or similar role.

•  Demonstrated experience in developing, managing and improving operational processes.

•  Accreditation/Certification in ITILv3, Security Certs? Agile Certifications a plus. CCNA/CCNP Collaboration, Routing and Switching.
