Our growing client is seeking Parkinson's research leadership for drug discovery and needs your hands-on leadership skills. Ideally you will have industry experience in start-up biotech settings in leading research teams from the bench in cellular and molecular biology studies. You will bring a track record of success in Parkinson's research or related CNS/neurology focused drug discovery and specialize in helping lead and coordinate drug discovery efforts with team members internally.  This is the ideal opportunity for someone with a passion for drug hunting, Parkinson's therapies, and ability to drug difficult targets. Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • You will provide expertise in Parkinson’s Disease cell models with a mastery level skill in medium- to high-throughput screening in cell-based assays? and oversee associate scientists in the lab
  • You should have expert hands-on experience with Isolation and culture of primary murine neurons
  • You will have experience with fluorescence and confocal microscopy evaluation of cellular pathology with automated image analysis and quantification
  • Ability to devise and execute Cell-based assays: ELISA, in-cell Western, and qPCR
  • Ideally some experience with development of assays of oxidative stress and mitochondrial metabolism would be valuable

Primary Job Requirements: 

  • Ph.D. in Neurology, CNS, or related experience with Parkinson's disease research and preferably 5+ years of Biotech experience
  • Ability to devise new experimental plans to probe emerging biology is a must, creativity and resourcefulness is imperative for your success in this role
  • Excellent interpersonal and scientific communication skills are key as well as demonstrated ability to mesh with a small, driven scientific team of peers
  • Ability to work from discovery to translation stages with biomarkers from cells to a relevant Parkinson’s Disease preclinical in vivo models is a major plus
  • Experience with mitochondrial biology in the context of Parkinson’s Disease or a related neurodegenerative disease is ideally sought
  • An ability to grow and develop science within an evolving start-up biotech environment is vital
