Business Title: Molding Technician II Request: Technician - Process Technician II Job Description: The Molding Technician position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of technically challenging projects, touching every franchise and site within the network. As a molding technician within the team, you will be looked to as a key contributor in the exploratory development and ultimately the commercialization of various projects. On top of the workhorse PD support, direct engagement in prototyping and exploratory efforts will allow you to take a concept and make it reality, with the support of a technically strong, experienced, and highly motivated team.
Job Purpose and Responsibilities:
Under limited supervisory direction, provide daily support of processes, materials and equipment for manufacture of medical devices utilizing molding process. Tear down, set-up and maintenance of machine is required. Knowledge of Engel molders, Arburg molders, hot and cold runner systems, thermoplastics, and both insert and component molding a plus. Must possess knowledge of materials and machine trouble-shooting.
* Work with engineers to set-up, tear down, and run prototype and development molded components.
* Identify and troubleshoot process, material or equipment issues to minimize downtime and meet production goals.
* Modify existing and develop new tooling and fixtures.
* Revise existing documents, processes, and/or methods to improve processes.
* Work with vendors and suppliers to procure and install tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
* Work with engineers on continuous improvement projects and new product transfers.
* Work with departmental customers to improve material / process quality.
* Identify and assist in resolving safety, health, or environmental issues associated with processes or equipment, and maintain compliance with good manufacturing practices.
* Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders and other technicians.
* Write and execute validation protocols and technical reports.
Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities:
Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
Basic Qualifications
* Two year associates degree or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 2 years related experience
* Previous experience running molding equipment
* Demonstrated technical aptitude, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
* Experience with GMP / Medical Device manufacturing a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
* Independent contributor that is highly motivated and driven
* Current molding and/or extrusion operator who has hands on experience with medical component process
* Set up, troubleshoot, and optimize equipment, tooling and processes to manufacture precise medical device components
