Summary:
  • Assists in performing product stewardship reviews.
  • Contributes to the maintenance and improvements to the Product Stewardship Management System.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommend changes within the Product Stewardship function and product stewardship related activities within the businesses.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and make decisions in low to moderate levels of ambiguity; implements agreed upon decisions. 
  • Gathers information to be used in communications with a wide variety of company functions including marketing, technical, legal, purchasing, product management, supply chain, customer service, technical service, and IT.
  • With guidance from a senior product stewardship specialist, responds to customer requests, both internal and external, with a customer-centric sense of urgency.
  • Assists in developing and providing product stewardship training and expertise for applicable personnel. 


Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for developing and implementing Product Stewardship compliance program to ensure products are introduced, sold, distributed, transported globally in compliance with Product Stewardship regulations. 
  • Support SDS management activities including trouble shooting and SDS availability in GPS database 
  • Oversee data transfer activities from ERP systems to GPS. Troubleshoot issues as needed 
  • Manage Dangerous Goods classifications for Aerospace products in GPS 
  • Support product compliance efforts using Overall Status tool 
  • Manage PS Sharepoint sites 
  • Support Raw Materials management activities 
  • Develop and update procedures and systems consistent with SBU and corporate practices. 
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to identify gaps and develop action plans to improve Product Stewardship processes within the business. 
  • Understand, support, and maintain necessary chemical notifications, registrations, authorisations under global chemical control regulations (REACh, TSCA, DSL, AICS, etc.).
  • Point of internal contact for customer inquiries regarding product regulatory compliance matters. 
  • Monitor and manage emerging issues in the areas of Product Stewardship, and chemical regulations 


Among other responsibilities, this position will be accountable for: 
  • Responding to customer inquiries (i.e., TSCA Verifications, chemical inventory reviews, RoHS Letters, Mercury Free Letters, etc.) 
  • Generate Safety Data Sheets, including for ITAR-controlled materials 
  • Provide training to PPG Aerospace Associates worldwide on GPS tools, including TDG database 
  • Participate as a team member for PSIT assessments for Aerospace locations, including providing guidance for sites’ progress reports 


Requires: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS field, chemistry, engineering, or related science with minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience 
  • Good working knowledge of product regulatory requirements both for domestic as well as international destinations as needed. 
  • Working knowledge of key business metrics, key drivers, business vision, and manufacturing processes/challenges as applicable.
