Role: AWS Support Engineer

Location: Rockville MD

Duration: 1+ years

Pay: Competitive based on experience

Experience needed: 4 to 6 years in an Operations support role

Hours: Standard work hours and occasional week end support is required. Occasional On call rotation is required

The operational support engineer will primarily support operations for AWS hosted platforms and some on prem systems for Market Regulation Technology. You would be responsible for big data processing and meeting SLA (Service License Agreement) for critical systems.

Supported technologies include UNIX, Windows, Oracle, Postgres, MSSQL, AWS (EMR, EC2, S3, RDS), AWS CloudWatch, Batch Scheduling (JAMS), and SQS.


This position will provide support to application teams for establishing connectivity between systems during design, development, and operation. The position presents an excellent opportunity to implement automation and apply other DevOps solutions. This includes development and application onboarding for the Auto-datafix framework, and regular involvement in operational enhancement development.

This position also consists of serving as a backup administrator for JAMS batch scheduling tool.

You would be responsible for maintaining, administering, and upgrading the batch tool’s software and AWS infrastructure (Windows server and MSSQL database).

Following are the requirements for the position:

  • Experience providing support for Linux/Unix systems
  • Experience providing support for Windows systems
  • Scripting experience in Python is must.
  • Experience in assisting customers (application teams) with operational issues triage and application deployment troubleshooting is a MUST
  • Knowledge of setup/provisioning of server environments (SDLC) in support of application releases
  • Basic AWS experience is a MUST

Desired experience:

  • Database experience with SQL and MSSQL is desired
  • Batch Scheduling experience is desired- all batching is in batch processing (Jams)
  • Experience supporting applications in AWS at an enterprise level is desired. Specifically working with EC2, S3, RDS, EBS Volumes, ELB and Security Groups
  • Systems integration experience desired
  • Experience with application deployment is desired
