QA Lab Technician

Dayton, OH

 

Hours:

  • 12 hour rotations
  • Will work 4 weeks on days (7-7) and 4 weeks on nights (7-7).
  • Will work 14-16 days a month and it includes days, nights, weekends and holidays

 

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6 months

 

Work Environment: Production/Lab

 

Summary:

  • The primary responsibility of the Lab Tech I is to assist the Quality Management (QM) or operations team through completion of analytical testing.
  • Analytical testing may be performed in support of NIR calibration development and maintenance, may provide routine analysis of in-process and final products, or support for new or on-going projects in any area of QM or plant operations.
  • Additional support may be given to the Specialist team to complete business initiatives.
  • The Laboratory Technician is responsible for communication of results in writing or verbally to all appropriate persons or entry of data in designated computer systems.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • 75% - Perform analytical analyses such as; samples used to develop and maintain NIR calibrations and cross checks; sensory panel preparation; routine wastewater analysis; routine analytical analyses required on finished product or in-process samples.
  • 15% - Maintain analytical equipment through maintenance, preventive maintenance and calibration; solution preparation and standardization.
  • 10% - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as required.

 

Job duties include:

  • Task responsibilities.
  • In process testing- beginning process.
  • Quality testing.
  • Lab sanitation.
  • Validation on instrumentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Min. High school/GED
  • Min. 1 year lab experience
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended period, able to navigate safely in an industrial environment.
  • Sound understanding of the basic sciences and analytical techniques, willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced work environment
  • Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills

 

Preferred Skills:

  • 2+ years of college science courses such as chemistry, microbiology or food science or 2+ years of previous industrial lab experience.
