Position:  R&D Technician

Duration: 1 year contract to hire
 
Position Description:
The R&D Technician will conduct mortar and concrete tests in the lab and in the field necessary to examine the properties of new and existing concrete admixtures.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Under supervisor’s direction, performs work assignments according to established standard tests required for research, development, quality control and/or technical service.
  • Performs mortar, concrete and fiber reinforced concrete tests and procedures according to established ASTM and in house methods.
  • Participate in field tests
  • Uses high-school level mathematics and science to complete work assignments.
  • Prepares samples for laboratory evaluation and customer sampling.
  • Operates and maintains simple lab/pilot plant apparatus/equipment.
  • Recognizes deviation from usual testing or equipment operation and makes minor adjustments if appropriate and communicates the need for adjustments with supervisor and the equipment owners.
  • Orders supplies, tools and equipment.
  • Documents procedure, and records/compiles data and results in laboratory notebook and computer.

 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Chemical Engineer, Biology or anything relative.
  • ACI Certified
  • Hands on experience weighing out chemicals, testing, working with analytical equipment, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
