Apex Systems is recruiting for a Research and Development Technician near Harmarville, PA! 
This R&D Technician will work to develop an area of responsibility and specialization through on the job related training. As a contributor to product development or product support teams, the Technician will be responsible, under minimal supervision, for supporting lab prototyping, testing, data analysis, and scale-up trials. The R&D Technician is responsible for completing technical and lab work independently with minimal direction from a chemist or supervisor. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
Test material properties and performance of coatings, adhesives and films 
Characterization (testing and data collection) of developmental and commercial coatings
Planning, coordinating, executing, documenting, and communicating results from complex experiments involving significant numbers of samples
Assistance with trials on industrial-scale architectural coaters at multiple factories in the US
Future responsibilities may include operation and basic maintenance of lab-scale coaters
Compile results and document in laboratory electronic notebook
Perform all work in compliance with laboratory environmental, health and safety rules
Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Associates Degree or equivalent in a science-related or technology/engineering related field (physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, material science, ceramic engineering, mechanical engineering)
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on laboratory work, make observations/draw conclusions and accurately organize/document results in spreadsheets/reports
  • Flexibility to come up to speed quickly and perform effectively on new projects or those the incumbent has not worked on for some time
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint software
  • Ability to accurately organize, enter and plot data in MS Excel spreadsheets or other software packages
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Aptitude and willingness to continually learn and expand skill set
  • Previous laboratory experience in industrial setting (desired, but not required)
