Job Scope and Purpose:
Our exclusive Greater Boston area client is seeking a Scientist-level leader for its Process Development team to lead downstream process development for viral vectors.  Our well-funded client seeks a dynamic bench-focused individual to lead translation of research process to GMP-compliant manufacturing, and will develop, scale-up and oversee the tech transfer of purification processes for its viral vector processes.  If you are looking for an opportunity to join a fast-paced company, and have the technical chops to lead by example and potentially lead a small team in the near future, then read below for more information!
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop robust downstream purification processes for manufacturing of viral based vectors
  • Design and carry out studies, including process scale up for GMP manufacturing, using process methods such as TFF, centrifugation and membrane and column purification
  • Oversee tech transfer and scale-up of protein purification processes, both internally and to CMO facilities
  • Generate and manage data reports and databases, and maintain batch inventories
  • Author, review and approve process transfer documentation to support GMP manufacturing
  • Work with leadership to establish process development lab infrastructure, including procurement of equipment
  • Establish and manage key vendor relationships, hire talent and provide strategic leadership to junior personnel

Primary Job Requirements:
  • PhD with at least two years relevant industry experience, or MS with at least four years, with a relevant biological scientific degree
  • Previous experience in viral vector process development and manufacturing is preferred
  • Strongly preferred experience working with biomacromolecules (mAbs, virus like particles, proteins)
  • Strong understanding of Design of Experiment and statistical analysis
  • Strong understanding of process scale-up and scale-down modeling
  • Previous experience with automation, including liquid handlers
  • Previous supervisory experience
