Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Active Directory Administrator in Arlington, VA to support a large cooperate windows infrastructure which includes VMware, IIS, SQL and other enterprise applications in a fast-paced environment.  U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background.  Expectations include ownership of major incidents, deployment scheduling, implementation, run, and maintain and Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2/2016 infrastructure. 

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Exceed expected quality of service on maintenance & deployment of upgrades, enhancements and modifications to systems
  • Troubleshoot Active Directory problems associated with ADFS 2.x and 3.x
  • Support ServiceNow ticket queue requests and document resolutions completely and accurately
  • Follow best practices to adhere to enterprise architecture.
  • Extensive knowledge in all facets of AD-related tasks and activities, as well as with Domain Controllers
  • Collaborate with Knowledge Management teams to draft operational documentation
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Problem Management teams to perform Root Cause Analysis
  • Able to analyze alerts from various monitoring tools and take appropriate actions during troubleshooting
  • Must have demonstrated a high level of problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Responsible for escalations to management for any SEV1 issues
  • Administer, run, and maintain clients Windows server infrastructure in production
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; contribute to and maintain system standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating system issues
  • Ensure correct installation, configuration, use, and maintenance of our windows server infrastructure
  • Research and recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks where possible.
  • Create and Maintain SOP’s and trains junior staff

To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications: 

  • Six plus years Windows server administration experience
  •  Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS)
  • Expertise in Active Directory and the associated Microsoft product line and have a solid understanding of Identity Management
  • Scripting (the ability to author and edit scripts; such as PowerShell, VBS, etc.)

It would be great if you also had:

  • Three plus years VMware ESXi 5.5, 6.x
  • Knowledge of HA computing and networking. (e.g. Microsoft Clustering, load balancing, TCP/IP, DNS)
  • Excellent understanding of Directory services to troubleshoot all escalated issues
  • Excellent writing skills with a proven background in writing documentation, presentations and policy
  • Experience with IIS, SQL, Dell/Quest Change Auditor
  • Experience working with application vendors
  • Hands on experience to troubleshoot hardware issues with HP servers
  • Understanding of server architectures, hardware, RAID
  • Certifications highly desirable
