Senior Network Engineer

Location: Valley Green (Etters, PA)

Monday-Friday from 8-5 with one week on call in a seven week rotation

 

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to provide expert knowledge level to provide design, implementation, and support for complex, mission critical infrastructure and unified communications. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Lead large network projects. Includes project planning, translate business needs to task and deliverables, network design, product specification, budget projections, detailed technical specifications, developing configurations, documentation and support team turnover.
  • Enterprise Network Design. Develop enterprise network designs and review select designs of other team members
  • Security Audit Reporting. Assist auditors in performing security audits, reporting concerns, recommending corrective action plan and remediate all identified risks
  • Network Product and Services Research. When end of life, change or additional technology is required Engineer will research and identify key products/services, perform comparisons and delivering recommendation via presentations to technical team and management
  • Policies and Standards. Create, review and revise network policies and best practice standards
  • Configuration Changes. Develop and implement configuration templates for enterprise network infrastructure and newly introduced network technologies. Senior engineer must make all core network changes
  • On-call support. Assist in complex/crisis network problem diagnosis, isolation and resolution as needed in support of the network operations team. Identifies and documents the root cause
  • Network Capacity. Develop and implement enterprise network planning processes to report and forecast network capacity
  • Disaster Recovery. Define and/or refine contingency and disaster recovery strategies, testing, and documentation.
  • Network Security. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of best practices and standards in network configurations for securing administrative and user access according to guidelines established by government, PCI, HIPAA and SOX rules for Retail industries
  • Stay current with industry standards and best practices
  • Requires mentoring & motivating others and leading highly technical teams

 Experience/Education

  • Ten (10) years' of experience in designing large enterprise LANs/WANs and working with TCP, UDP, IP, Ethernet, routers, switches, capacity planning and network security required
  • Three (3) years' of experience in project manager or team leader role required
  • Cisco CCIE certification or equivalent experience required
  • Protocols/Standards: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, RIP, 802.11a/b/g/n, WPA/WPA2, 802.1x, VPN, SIP, G.711/729, other VoIP, MPEG-1/2, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VRRP, HSRP, PIM, IGMP, IPSEC, RADIUS
  • Network Services: MPLS, Cable, T1, OC3/12, DSL, 4G, MetroE, Satellite, etc
  • Hardware: Cisco routers, switches. Cisco wireless access points / controller IOS, Nexus and security bundle for configurations. Fortigate firewalls, Linksys routers, Hughes routers and Cradlepoint routers
  • Load balancing: Cisco and Citrix L7 switches
  • Network Management: Prime, Orion, Wildpacket software, Wireshark, Fortimanager, Cisco ISE, TACACS, Cisco CE, OPNET Acelive ARx
  • Problem Resolution: Expert packet capture analysis. Ability to quickly isolate performance issues to network, system or application
  • Network Design: Dual home high availability, performance based auto WAN failover, policy based routing, COS/QOS, VoIP, VPN, VPC, spanning tree, structured Cat5/6 cabling
  • Change Management: Familiar with change management products and mass deployment of common configurations in a staged approach. Tracking and audit of changes
  • Network Capacity Planning: WAN, LAN, VoIP, hardware

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Computer Science required
