Our client is a new startup in the therapeutics area and they are making waves. They are a highly innovative company seeking highly innovative candidates. 

Responsibilities:

    • Differentiate pluripotent or embryonic stem cells into motor neurons, dopamine neurons, and other cell types in tissue culture
    • Screen and test agents in cell culture models using methods such as transfection, transduction, with molecular and biochemical methods, including immunocytochemistry and microscopy
    • Generate and maintain stable cell lines
    • Extract RNA and perform library preparations for sequencing (RNA-seq)
    • Contribute and write detailed research project plans and methodological SOPs that guide yours and other team members’ laboratory activities
    • Design, plan, and execute in vitro assays using molecular biology and biochemistry methods
    • Assist in some in vivo studies, including compound administration, sample collection and tissue analysis
    • Analyze data using relevant statistical methods and present results to our team

Requirements:

    • A BS or MS degree in neuroscience, neuropharmacology, biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related scientific discipline
    • 2-5 years of post-degree experience with in vitro cell biology, and preferably drug screens in support of pharmaceutical development
    • Expertise in mammalian cell culture of human iPSCs or rodent ESCs, primary or iPSC-derived neurons and immortalized cell lines
    • Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, especially RNA extractions and library preparations
    • Experience with imaging techniques including, immunocytochemistry and light and fluorescence microscopy; live cell imaging is a plus
    • Basic understanding of genomic, high-throughput sequencing and high-throughput drug screening methods
    • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary scientific discovery settings
