Role: SOC Analyst
Location: Suitland, MD
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Executes common process for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly audit functions as spelled outin NIST 800-53 (latest applicable version)
  • Monitors Tier 1 and Tier 2 security logs, conducts forensic analysis, and initiates reports as documented inthe SSPs.
  • Assesses information system vulnerabilities with internal system tools and enterprise tools supplied byNOAA and OSPO, (e.g., ArcSight, Tripwire Log Center, Tenable Security Center (TSC), NESSUS, WebInspect, IBM BigFix suite (ECMO), and Nipper Studio)
  • Provides Incident Response (IR) support, including coordination with the NOAA Cyber Incident Response Team (N-CIRT)
  • Conducts Vulnerability Assessments (VA)
  • Supports Secure Websites management
  • Conducts security monitoring

 
Qualifications
  • 5+ years in IT security operations management
  • Familiarity with incident handling and resolution, forensics, and network hunting
  • Demonstrated written and oral communications skills
  • Experience with security monitoring systems
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • A passion for problem solving and data-driven decision making
  • Ability to direct customer expectations and drive projects forward to completion
  • Ability to multi-task and engage on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and ability to manage to deadlines
