Leads the company’s Architectural competitiveness in the context of enterprise challenges and the demands of a highly competitive industry and our responsive strategy with focus to customers.  Researches, designs, develops and maintains highly complex open system software applications.  Is responsible for a singular architectural function. Conducts system impact analysis and serves as an architectural mentor for other architects in their system component development. Works with server, network and database leadership in designing architectural standards for high performance and in resolving critical cross-domain and production issues.



*1. Performs highly complex system analysis of functional, non-functional and business requirements for software development.  Trains and mentors staff in requirement gathering.


*2. Designs and develops enterprise software applications and model database architecture and relation databases.


*3. Demonstrated proven understanding of software applications and infrastructure through enterprise implementations.


*4. Proven programming & technical skills in various languages and products currently used by the company as specified for the position as well as languages and products that are common for the industry.  Researches and recommends new software products as well as orchestrates technical innovations for the insurance industry.  Utilizes and provides mentoring in Java, J2EE, Javascript, Spring, C#, C/C++, Hibernate, Tibco (AMX, BW, BE), Webservices, Subversion, Jenkins, Oracle11g, SQL, iPlanet and/or JBOSS webserver and markup languages such as HTML, CSS, XML, JSON.


*5. Defines processes and procedures for integration testing and write unit tests to ensure high quality applications and meet business requirements.  Mentors development staff in the art of test driven development.


*6. Originates various deployment methods and tools and develops procedures for efficient process.


*7. Demonstrates an understanding of systems, database and networking and mentors others.  Proposes solutions within the expectations of common architectural principles.




1.     Master’s degree and 6 years of experience.  Those with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering,  Computer Science or a related area of study and 8 years of experience may be considered.


2.     Ability to teach Object Orientated Concepts and contribute to a software development life cycle.


3.     Commanding knowledge and ability to mentor others in various tools and frameworks such as Eclipse, Struts, FSF, Grails and Foundations.  Research and recommend the select of productivity products.  


Utilizes and provides mentoring in Java, J2EE, Javascript, Spring, C#, C/C++, Hibernate, Tibco (AMX, BW, BE), Webservices, Subversion, Jenkins, Oracle11g, SQL, iPlanet and/or JBOSS webserver and markup languages such as HTML, CSS, XML, JSON.


4.     Proven record of complex application development solutions, orchestrating technical and architectural decision and mentoring others.


5.     Proven support and maintenance of software applications an cross training of others on names solutions.  


6.     Has or quickly developes insurance knowledge in topics such as Policies, Agents, Claims and Products as well as business knowledge in Operations, Finance and Marketing/Sales through designs and presentations as well as mentoring and training new team members.
