Apex Systems Inc., is immediately seeking a Software Development Manager to support an enterprise level government integrator in the Baltimore, MD or NoVA area. The qualified applicant will have a background in supporting Defense Health programs, leading mid to large sized dev teams, working with EHR systems, and full SDLC projects/programs. They will have a proven ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, balancing multiple tasks, and working in team environments.

 

Client: Enterprise Government Integrator

Location: McLean, VA

Status: US Citizen

Compensation: Competitive based on years of relevant experience

Clearance: Able to obtain or maintain an active Secret clearance

 

Description of Work:

  • Work and communicate with senior Government personnel to ensure smooth and effective translation of the business requirements into technical architecture and interface design solutions
  • Ensure compliance with security program and policies
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Research, design, develop, and/or modify enterprise-wide web-based systems and/or applications software
  • Lead system development and deployment activities for multiple concurrent operational systems to include patch deployment, development of bug fixes and integration of new systems. 
  • Responsible for meeting software compliance standards
  • Evaluating interfaces between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall systems.
  • Documenting, testing and maintenance of system corrections
  • Provide information, technical, and management briefings and presentations to on all aspects of the work being performed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience supporting IT Projects in Federal/Defense Healthcare arena or supporting DOD Joint Programs
  • Experience managing/leading development teams of 10 or more
    • Able to speak to past experience with responsibilities around hiring/firing, deliverable management, team coordination, and bringing weaker team members up to speed
  • Experience developing theater medical IT software and theater medical software integration
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in clinical and healthcare systems to include an understanding of hospital information systems, electronic health records, and health information exchanges
  • Must have hands-on OR functional management experience with teams developing in two or more: Java, VB, .NET, MUMPS, and other legacy development languages
  • Deep understanding of software architecture and interface design
  • Previous experience in managing multiple concurrent software development projects using best practice SDLC methodologies to include managing Agile Scrum teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication for presentations at all levels

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare applications and terminology, specifically supporting the Defense Health Agency
  • Expertise in designing, building and deploying interfaces utilizing health IT interoperability standards such as Dicom, HL7, IHE, & FHIR
