Apex Systems, the second largest IT Staffing agency in the country, is supporting an Oracle & SQL Server DBA opportunity at a major University in New Haven, CT. This is a 50/50 hybrid role - experience with OEM, Data Pump, and Management Studio are strongly preferred. 
The hiring manager is looking to move quickly and for someone invested in the long haul.

Job Description:
Work with existing DBA staff to provide DBA support for Oracle & SQL Server instances. Work independently as a subject matter expert in the daily support of customer requests, incidents, problems and changes. Tasks will include installation, migrations, upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuration tuning, SQL tuning, backup and recovery, and disaster planning. MySQL DBA experience is a plus.
 
Position Qualifications:
  • Minimum of six years of professional DBA experience with Oracle/MS SQL Server DBA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Project Management skills

 
Experience with multiple versions of Oracle/SQL Server in the following areas:
  • SQL Server 2012, 2014 and 2016
  • Oracle 12C on Linux
  • Strong Optimal SQL Server Configuration skills
  • Strong Query Tuning ability
  • Supporting SQL Server on Microsoft Azure
  • Always On Cluster management
  • Release Management
  • Database Environment Refreshes
  • Customized Backup Routines
  • Disaster and Recovery (DR) strategies testing and implementation
  • Windows Clustering
  • Custom Scripts for Health Checks, Data Archiving, Table Maintenance
  • Job Failure Detection and Recovery
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • DTS to SSIS Conversion

 
Work Hours:
  • Mon - Fri, 8:30am - 5pm
  • Must be able to be on-call during some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and/or overnight hours for system related activities when necessary.
