Senior Accessibility UX Designer

Location: South Denver

Duration: This will be a W-2 contract position through 2018 with likely extensions

  • This individual will be working on video product lines (including set top boxes and Roku) and guides for the visually and hearing impaired
  • You will be paired with a developer and will make recommendations to the developer



  • Create developer tools to increase the usability and accessibility of the company's web applications.
  • Test web and mobile applications using assistive technologies and create JIRA tickets for bugs and defects.
  • Track, report, and provide technical documentation and recommendations to provide accessible code for new features and to help remediate existing accessibility issues.
  • Communicate findings to senior management thereby holding teams accountable to established practices and supporting established compliance guidelines.
  • Mentor, educate and support those around you, as well as other web engineers within the company.
  • Serve as an Accessibility Subject Matter Expert and help evangelize accessibility across company's design and product teams.



  • Familiar with core web technologies and APIs (HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
  • Experience with modern web application development practices and popular JavaScript frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of cross-platform and browser compatibility issues.
  • Knowledge of correct use and limitations of WAI-ARIA in web application development.
  • Strong understanding and experience in validating web and mobile applications for WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA compliance with assistive technologies: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (OSX & iOS), and Talkback (Android).
  • Experience in task management with the ability to work collaboratively with multiple groups or self-directed as needed.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills to clearly communicate assistive technology needs and design decisions to multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Empathy for people with disabilities and an understanding of the different perspectives and needs of people.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the FCC and accessibility guidelines for telecommunications products and applications.
