Senior Business Systems Analyst

Richmond, VA

1 year contract 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Independently and proactively lead/facilitate efforts to identify opportunities to leverage technology to enable business success and alignment with strategic vision. 
  • Gather, evaluate, and document requirements for complex new systems or system enhancements based on business user input, technical requirements and constraints. 
  • Document requirements using Structured Analysis Techniques such as Use Cases, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Process Decomposition Diagrams, Workflows and Wireframes.
  • Analyze proposed system changes to identify strategies for meeting business objectives and impacts, including costs and effort required to implement. 
  • Develop innovative strategies for meeting business requirements, including leveraging the capabilities of existing technology tools or acquiring/developing new technology tools.
  • Present strategy and findings orally in meetings and presentations with key users and agency executives.
  • Act as a liaison between the business partners and the technical staff. 
  • Facilitate business owners and other technical staff in the development of innovative solution designs.
  • Coordinate with business users, technical staff and Software Quality Assurance Manager to develop test data and test procedures to verify application functionality.  Oversee testing within a given project.
  • Apply a broad range of expertise of technology principles, best practices and procedures to the completion of difficult and complex assignments crossing multiple functional areas.
  • Apply comprehensive technical knowledge of software solutions analysis and design to the oversight of significant assignments, referring only the most complex technology issues to higher levels.
  • Develop and document technology processes and methodologies.
  • Use and promote the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and recommend changes as appropriate.  Work with both business partners and technical staff on adherence to the SDLC methodology to ensure quality project deliverables.

  • Use of various analytical techniques including process flows, use cases and development of wireframes
  • Design and develop solutions
  • Prepare complex documents including general and detail design specifications
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, assign, and schedule work of project team
