We are looking for consultants with experience or knowledge of EMC Isilon or VMAX for this and upcoming projects!!!

Role: Sr. Implementation Specialist

Location: Central New Jersey

Duration: 6 months with opportunity for extensions


Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Guidance and documentation on HPE 3PAR day to day procedures that are done via CLI vs SSMC


  • Documentation and Runbook creation on routine/recommended tasks that need to be done via CLI (Vs SSMC)


  • Guidance and validation of multipathing software / Host Adapter settings in relation to Synergy/SDX host set up


  • Share known issues related to SDX / Synergy connections to 3PAR


  • Implement online volume expansion and validate settings, procedures and best practices related to it. CLI Procedure to do online expansion


  • Documentation and Runbook creation on routine/recommended tasks that need to be done via CLI (Vs SSMC)


  • Validate Remote Copy over IP best practices. Confirm our current link Redundancy, configuration and set up meet best practices.


  • Implement error reporting related to Remote Copy over IP. Guidance on parameters that need to be monitored related to RC.


  • Fine tuning the RCIP link setup according to 3 PAR best practices if required


  • Conduct end to end DR tests aligned with HPE best practices for DR recovery and testing


  • Conduct snapshot recovery tests aligned with HPE best practices for DR recovery and testing


  • Document CLI procedures used for DR tests and recovery


  • Document CLI procedures required for Snapshot set up and testing and recovery


  • Validation that current snapshot schedule and retention policies are following HPE best practices.


  • Validation that current Pools, thin/thick virtual volume configuration follow HPE best practices.


  • KT to Operations about day to day operational tasks and best way to do it (CLI vs SSMC)


  • KT to Operations about reliable methods to monitor capacity and performance. Set up thresholds for error reporting related to capacity and performance monitoring.


  • KT to Operations about routine errors encountered in RC/Virtual Snapshots and link to HPE KB articles to resolve them. Set up thresholds for error reporting related to Remote Copy


  • KT to Operations about online volume expansion and document step by step CLI procedures to do it.


  • Experienced and skills with 3PAR scripting. It would be very useful for all CLI procedures as well as providing a better view into the RC group info since there is not a good way/any way to show sync statistics at the consistency group level.


  • Snapshot schedules for CS700 and Synergy (storage provisioning is done in OneView/Composer but snapshot configuration is not a feature that is currently supported).


  • Dashboard creation/addition for tracking Remote Copy and Snapshot timings.


  • Performance reporting


  • Monitoring of snaps and RC groups (if the basic monitoring doesn’t provide what we need).
