Essential Skills:

The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Network Management System (NMS) experience,

This role will report to the Senior Manager of OSS. The position entails design and implementation of OSS solutions used to support our client’s service provider infrastructure, applications, and databases.  These systems consist of a large number of commercial and in-house developed applications, with high-availability and high-scalability requirements.

Daily work will involve definition and configuration of new systems and features, certification of new infrastructure and services, design and validation of OSS virtualization and collection infrastructure, systems and data integration, as well as troubleshooting of systems, network, and collection infrastructure.


This role also includes the administration of CA Spectrum. Daily focus of this position will be performing complete implementation, configuration and customization of CA Spectrum, event management, condition correlation, root cause analysis, polling and trap management. Duties will also include identifying and developing automation using tools and scripting to help drive higher levels of resolution and diagnostics through continual refinement of automation.

Expectations would include strong UNIX experience, understanding of networking and communication protocols such as SNMP/WMI, virtualization exposure such as VMWare/Hyper-V/Xen, and familiarity with SAN and NAS infrastructures.  This individual should exhibit both a desire and aptitude to quickly learn new technologies, able to work both independently and as part of a larger team of analysts, systems engineers, and software engineers.

The position may include the mentoring of more junior developers, as well as daily interaction with management on progress, issues, and ideas.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in CA Spectrum administration.
  • Hands on experience with Splunk.
  • Hands on experience with IBM Tivoli Netcool.
  • Server management and Network management.
  • Hands on expertise with Network Management Protocols and Tools (SNMP, WMI, Syslog, TRAPS).
  • Must be able to produce high quality scripts (Perl, Shell, and/or Python) and SQL queries.
  • Strong TCP/IP Knowledge.
  • Experience with production support, integration, and development.
  • Experience with Linux OS platform.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Salt Stack, Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with Microsoft Azure is plus).
  • Expertise and experience with fault, performance, trend analysis, configuration management, network reporting management and/or monitoring platforms.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Working knowledge in Debugging and Analyses of complex issues within large scale OSS/NMS platforms.
