Job Scope & Purpose:
Our Cambridge based client focused in gene therapy is seeking a Senior or Principal level Research Associate to join our Discovery Biology team. The successful candidate will contribute to developing novel assays to assess protein expression and function of new targets in our growing pipeline. This role will work closely with other teams internally and externally, and support the analysis of preclinical studies to evaluate therapeutic candidates.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and perform molecular and cellular-based assays to asses protein expression and activity
  • Work closely with in vivo pharmacology and R&D teams to support sample analysis
  • Develop SOPs for assay development and transfer to CROs for validation
  • Prepare, review and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use

Primary Job Requirements:
  • BS/MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related science discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with routine biological and molecular biology assays, including protein detection assays and enzymatic activity assays
  • Ability to independently design/develop new assays, analyze and interpret data, think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Experience with assay development for custom immunoassays (ELISA/MSD/Luminex) and assay verification is a must
  • Experience with antibody/biomarker discovery is a plus
  • Experience with molecular cloning, tissue culture and/or in vivo pharmacology a plus
  • Experience with assay validation and CRO transfer will be viewed favorably
