Job Scope & Purpose:
Our client is a new biotech company in Cambridge spun out of one of the most well renowned labs at Harvard/MIT and is taking a new approach to gene therapy. This team is using their proprietary technology to further develop the applicability of gene therapy through solving immune response issues. By working at the intersection of two of the hottest fields in biotech, immunology and gene therapy, this team offers a unique and exciting opportunity to a motivated (Sr.) Research Associate. Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Support studies to assess immune responses to AAV vectors using in vitro mammalian cell culture systems and in vivo mouse models 
  • Support small animal studies conducted with CROs by interfacing with CROs (e.g. observing and checking procedures such as dosing, necropsies, etc.) and performing downstream immunoassays 
  • Support the design, production, and optimization of AAV vectors
  • Prepare data for internal presentations and publication 

Primary Job Requirements:
  • BSc or MSc in immunology, microbiology, virology, molecular biology or related, with 2+ years’ experience working in a research laboratory setting 
  • Prior experience with mouse models, including multiple routes of injection and dissection of different tissue types (preference for candidate with hands-on experience but extensive experience in assisting with or observing procedures acceptable) 
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and immunological assays/(e.g. ELISA, ELISPOT, neutralizing antibody assays, flow cytometry) 
  • Outstanding personal initiative, problem-solving, and communication skills 
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, and ability to be an effective team member in a fastpaced start-up environment 
  • Prior experience working with a preclinical rodent CRO 
  • Prior research experience with viral vectors, especially AAV 
  • Prior research experience in industry setting
