Apex Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer in the Nashville area to provide Level 3 support for software, operating systems, and hardware; as well as interfacing with development and the hardware vendors. 

  • Interact well with all levels of management, and cross multiple teams
  • Develop and implement technical solutions based on defined business requirements
  • Identify technical environment issues and recommend solutions to mitigate problems
  • Perform analytical, technical and administrative work in the planning, design and installation of new and existing computer systems
  • Test and certify new software and hardware technologies for use in company environment
  • Maintain telephone and faxing systems.
  • Drive resolution of issues with new and existing on premise and cloud solutions if required.
  • Assist application teams in diagnosing application issues.
  • Streamline operations by building appropriate automations.
  • Build run-books for new and existing solutions.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation to enable consistent standards and operating procedures.
  • Perform effective capacity planning, analysis and implementation to ensure infrastructure IT Services are available to meet business needs.
  • Ensure IT Business Services are available by ensuring infrastructure services meet SLA's.
  • Transitioning from a traditional 'on-premises-only' environment towards a more cloud-centric approach.

  • BS in Computers or related field.
  • Manage VMware vCenter for virtual infrastructure environments.
  • Experienced in setup and management of ESX virtual hosts.
  • Linux server administration.
  • Manage the enterprise Microsoft Windows servers, Active Directory and GPO’s, including system health, upgrades and security to insure a secure computing environment.
  • Can install, manage, and upgrade/migrate Microsoft Server Operating Systems (2008 – 2016).
  • Patch management using Windows software update services
  • Manage web application servers and databases.
  • Experience with additional Microsoft administrative applications such as Office 365, DNS, DHCP, IIS, etc.
  • Implement and support backup processes, systems and reporting to ensure the on-going availability of data and ensure compliance.
  • Configure and maintain the organization's internal computer network, firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, etc. and maintains network failover solutions.
  • Have a comprehensive telephony background and thorough understanding of SIP, VoIP, & QoS.
  • Experience with governance & change control and ticket management systems (ITSM).
