Edgesource is seeking a System Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Edgesource’s Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers.  During the initial program transition period, the system administrator will be responsible for reviewing incoming CA systems/applications to gain understanding of technical and maintenance requirements, architecture of the system, interfaces and applications. After the transition in period, the system administrator will support sustainment activities as part of the Shared Services team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support existing Consular Affairs applications, including working with the customer and legacy engineering team to obtain and maintain the tools and services necessary to support current functionalities and associated interfaces
  • Troubleshoot issues in existing CA systems/applications, Oracle and Microsoft products, and other components
  • Participate in installation/configuration of Oracle and Microsoft products and other commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products
  • Evaluate and apply patches and updates
  • Participate in root cause analysis of issues
  • Create and maintain system/application documentation
  • Investigate/institute changes and enhancements to improve the reliability, maintainability, and performance of the system
  • Participate in requirements management, system modeling, configuration management, and other systems engineering activities as appropriate

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years’ experience
  • At least four (4) years of experience supporting multi-tier applications based on the Oracle Fusion Middleware or similar products in a production environment
  • Hands on experience in application performance monitoring
  • Hands on experience evaluating and installing of patches/security updates to Oracle or other COTS products
  • Hands on experience deploying Java applications into production environments
  • Hands on experience writing detailed deployment instructions
  • Must have a current, active Secret (or higher) clearance.  An interim clearance may be considered.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: 

  • Experience maintaining Oracle Siebel CRM products
  • Experience maintaining Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL databases
  • Experience maintaining Microsoft Sharepoint sites
  • Experience maintaining Microsoft Dynamics applications
  • Knowledge of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) security guidelines
  • Experience supporting system development, integration and test environments
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and tools
  • Experience working in agile development environments
