Sun Solaris UNIX System Administrator
Client: Enterprise Insurance
Contract: 3 months  
Location: Downtown Toronto
Description:

The Finance Systems team manages a complex SOX compliant infrastructure with many inter-related components that provide the repository of financial information required to support the Source of Earnings and other general ledger financial reporting. They also support the Enterprise-wide critical cash management and treasury solutions including the banking interfaces.
There are over 4,000 global users of Finance and Treasury systems worldwide; peak usage occurs during local banking hours and during the quarterly financial reporting cycle. The key responsibilities of the area are: data governance; ongoing operational support (including monitoring, setup, and end user support); application development; supporting global financial process change initiatives and leading change throughout the business units; implementing changes and upgrades to all systems supported by IFS; maintaining a controlled, reliable, accessible and stable financial reporting environment. 


• In-depth knowledge of Exalytics In-Memory Machine X5 

• Ability to administer Exalytics engineered appliance from the Sun Solaris 11 perspective including but not limited to SunOS, Server Virtualization, Shared Resources management, Logical Volume/Storage Management, User Security, Performance troubleshooting and analysis and Server configuration 

• Solid understanding of OBIEE 12 In-Memory acceleration and advanced In-Memory data caching capabilities 

• Solid understanding of Essbase 11 Hardware Specific Acceleration and In-Memory optimization and best practices tuning for speed and reliability. 

• Technical skills and experience in UNIX Shell and Perl scripting. 

• Strong troubleshooting skills. 


• Ability to work well with service providers, vendors and internal customers. 

• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

• Flexibility to accommodate global project schedules or emergency changes, which may include off-hours conference calls. 

• Flexible and adaptable when dealing with change and multiple priorities. 

• Positive attitude with the ability to deliver within tight deadlines.
