Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Automation Engineer to implement lifecycle automation & dev-ops methodologies for our private cloud infrastructure. The primary focus area will be on automating compute and storage resource deployment (Windows, Linux, SAN, and NAS), including security and network templates for our VMWare environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and an individual who seeks a challenging, fast-paced dynamic work environment. The Automation Engineer will understand how to write concise and accurate documentation, have experience integrating with and leveraging backup systems, and be open to learning and using more than one particular coding language as needed. This position also requires flexibility to be on call in a team-wide rotation.

Duties Include:
  • Writing PowerShell scripts to manage Active Directory, VMware via PowerCLI, various servers and services, and automating repetitive tasks. (Incumbent will need to be able to create RESTful APIs, as well as leverage 3rd party APIs for deep integration.)
  • Assisting other engineers supporting a .Net application, and its respective MSSQL databases.
  • Providing Tier 3 support as the final escalation point for various issues.
  • Help conduct security audits, and work with Information Security to ensure our environment is protected.
  • Work with Azure and AWS DevOps engineers and architects, to develop common or parallel standards, templates and processes for efficient multi-cloud management.

 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors (Master’s preferred) OR 5+ yrs experience (7+ preferred) including 4+ years of experience with PowerShell scripting- the ability to create complex scripts from scratch is crucial for success in this role.
  • At least two years of experience managing and maintaining VMware vSphere.
