Title: Technical Writer II

Location: Mountain View, CA

Duration: 4 month contract



Project Overview: The team is looking for a technical writer to create partner documentation. You will be asked to take complex information and communicate it clearly, concisely, and accurately without relying on technical or corporate jargon.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate, edit, and curate documentation produced by engineers.
  • Design information architecture for complex documentation sets.
  • Write documentation for Assistant partners, from specifications and procedures to release notes and presentations.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Read and write example code.
  • Create SDK(Software Development Kit) /API (Application Programing Interface) docs, integration docs, installation guides, API references, and partner newsletters.
  • Update FAQs, draft product announcements.
  • Interview engineers, product managers and technical account managers to compile information.
  • Publish in a variety of media and tools, including raw HTML, Doxygen, and Javadoc.

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Computer Science or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in Technical Writing
  • Experience reading and/or writing code in Javascript, C#, Java, HTML.
  • Expert command of writing technology-focused copy that builds confidence and helps manufacturers and developers understand and implement new technologies.

Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:

  • Proficient in editing HTML, writing API guides/references, and authoring in Javadoc, Doxygen or similar generated API documents.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build strong relationships with cross functional partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, impeccable business judgment and solid understanding of user-experience principles.
