Telecom Engineer

Apex Systems, the nation’s 2nd largest IT Staffing organization, has an immediate and exciting opportunity for a Telecom Engineer for one the Nation’s Top Telecommunications companies located in the Columbus, Ohio area. This opportunity is for a 12-month contract

Responsibilities for Telecom Engineer:

  • Place circuit orders with Local Exchange Carriers and Interexchange Carriers
  • Coordinate circuit installation between vendors and operation personnel
  • Track order status and escalate as required
  • Assign equipment and facilities in the circuit inventory system (XPERCOM)
  • Utilize and industry’s Local Exchange Routing Guide (LERG) to determine proper routing of new cellular and landline codes and resolve trouble reports
  • Analyze capacity requirements associated with landline tandem rehomes and cellular switch cutovers


Requirements for Telecom Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related equivalent work experience
  • Experience with invoice processing, coding procedures, and PeopleSoft
  • Telecom experience including T1, DACS, and/or OMP
  • Voice switch infrastructure experience including Lucent 5E and ECP, Motorola MGX, and Nortel MTX
  • Experience with digital communications including DS1, DS3, Fiber, and ISDN
  • Experience with data communications including routers, switches, Ethernet, hubs, TCP/IP, ATM, Frame Relay, and SS7
