Test Engineer II

Atwater, CA

12 Month Contract



Work Hours: 8AM-5PM


Description: The Reliability team is looking for a hands-on engineer to be responsible for vehicle reliability and durability testing at our test site. The successful candidate will execute a variety of vehicle reliability and durability tests (data collection, structural, powertrain, and environmental durability). In the process, you will own the resulting issues, their countermeasures, revalidation, and be responsible for communicating the results to a cross functional engineering team. Having a broad background in automotive vehicle testing, a keen attention to detail and thriving on being the first point of contact are key attributes. As the primary reliability / durability representative at our test site, being a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple priorities, organize workloads, and complete tests with minimal supervision is greatly valued.


Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

1. Track and document vehicle test and durability issues, countermeasures and communicate concise, detailed test reports

2. Perform vehicle evaluations, identify potential customer complaints, investigate root cause and recommend potential countermeasures

3. Organize and facilitate pre, post and mid-test design inspections and test reviews


Additional Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, plan and execute new and existing vehicle reliability and durability tests

- Train technicians and drivers on durability and reliability best practices


Required Qualifications:

- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience

- 2 years of experience in vehicle reliability and durability, performance testing or prototype development

- Knowledge of theory, methods and techniques used in vehicle testing and maintenance

- Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record

- Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems with a variety of hand, power, diagnostic, and debugging tools

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, attention to detail, organization, documentation and verbal communication skills

- Detailed understanding of automotive systems and failure modes (physics of failure), especially hybrid and electric powertrains

- Candidates must have the ability and willingness to travel occasionally (Up to 20%)


Nice to have skills

- Instrumentation and data acquisition experience

-3+ years of experience in vehicle reliability, durability, performance testing or prototype development is a plus
